Rival Allegany is defeated by Fort Hill 4-1; the Miners sweep BW; Northern defeats Keyser 3-1; and Calvary swept 

CUMBERLAND — On Monday, No. 3 Fort Hill defeated rival Allegany 3-1 thanks in part to double-doubles from Tatum Bishop and Kamryn Rice. After winning the first set 25-21 and losing the second 25-23, the Sentinels (7-2 overall, 4-2 Western Maryland Athletic Conference, 2-0 City League) won the next two 25-23 and 25-16 to win the match. After going 1-4 in the WestMAC and 1-1 in City play, Allegany’s record was 2-8 overall.

Bishop contributed 15 digs, 10 service points, eight kills, three blocks, and 29 assists to Rice’s final total of 16 digs and 29 assists. Jovie Breitfeller finished with 16 digs and 6 kills, Addison Furstenberg with 10 kills and 7 blocks, and Talia Young with 19 service points, 7 digs, and 6 kills.

Addison Franz, Ava McFarland, and Jaiden Fradiska all got double-digit digs. As of the time this article was created, Allegany had not submitted any statistics.

JV Fort Hill prevailed 2-0. Corrine Spriggs had six kills, Summer Welsh had fourteen assists, while Caiti Willison had ten digs. Fort Hill plays Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Southern (3-6). On Wednesday, Allegany is at Hancock.

 Ridge 3, BW 0

With a double-double from Kealana Pua’auli, No. 4 Mountain Ridge defeated Bishop Walsh on Monday night. By game scores of 25-14, 25-16, and 25-9, the Miners (7-3) prevailed. Bishop Walsh was defeated, 1-4. Pua’auli finished with ten kills, three aces, two digs, and sixteen kills overall.

Anne Baker concluded with seven points and five digs, Aubreigh Wilson completed with six assists, five points, and three aces, Kayden Wilson contributed ten points and four aces, and Ryan Whitehead finished with six points, five kills, and three digs. Grace Elliott led Bishop Walsh with four digs and an ace.

On Tuesday, Bishop Walsh suffered a 3-0 loss at No. 5 Calvary (15-6). Mountain Ridge plays Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Berlin.

Keyser 1, Northern 3

No. 2 After losing the first two games to Keyser, Northern came back to win four on Monday. Keyser (6-6) won the second game 25-23, while the Huskies (7-2) won the first 25-19.

After settling in, Northern won the following two games 25-13 and 25-18. Jamie Bailey, the head coach of Northern, remarked, “Keyser had some great blocks and seemed to pick up so many hard hits.” “They also had some perfectly placed tips and pushes.”

Grace 3, Calvary 0

On Friday, Grace easily defeated No. 5 Calvary, winning 25-18, 25-19, and 25-10. Grace has defeated the Eagles (15-6) in both of their regular-season games and is presently leading the Mason-Dixon Christian Conference.

“We played Grace much better this time around, we even held a couple of leads in the first two games, but we just couldn’t create enough offense to hold on,” John Wall, Calvary’s head coach, said. “We were pleased when we caused them to burn some timeouts.”

For the Eagles, Allie Maust finished with seven digs and eleven assists. Madie Robinette tallied three kills and twelve digs. Paula Ganoe contributed two blocks, three aces, eight kills, and nine digs. Reagan Getz finished with two kills, nine digs, and an ace. Bishop Walsh was defeated 1–5 by Calvary on Tuesday.
