CUMBERLAND — Four finalists for the position of president of Allegany College of Maryland have been announced by the board of trustees, and each candidate will participate in an hour-long community discussion. The Dr. Robert Zimmer Theatre in the ACM College Center will host two forums featuring each candidate.
All attendees will be invited to fill out a feedback form that will be given to the board of trustees, and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of the candidates.
Among the finalists are:
—Kurt Hoffman, Allegany College of Maryland’s senior vice president of Instructional and Student Affairs. Hoffman was previously the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences chair.
He received an associate’s degree in arts from Scottsdale Community College, a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Arizona State University, a master’s degree in psychology from Sonoma State University, and a doctorate in education in educational leadership from Frostburg State University.
On October 31, Hoffman will participate in one-hour public forums that start at 11:15 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m.David Jones is the executive director of the ACM Foundation and the vice president of Advancement and Community Relations. Jones worked for the US Department of Education as an Education Program Specialist prior to attending the college.
He graduated from Frostburg State University with a bachelor’s degree in social science and a master’s degree in education. The scheduled times for Jones’ community forums are 11:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on November 6.
—At Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury, Kristin Mallory serves as the vice president for Academic Affairs. BridgeValley Community and Technical College, which includes campuses in southern West Virginia, has had Mallory as its provost.
She obtained a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from West Liberty State College, an associate’s degree in dental hygiene from West Liberty State College, a doctorate in education from Marshall University, and a master’s degree in education from Salisbury State University.
The dates of Mallory’s forums are November 4 at 11:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
—In Moorefield, West Virginia, Thomas Striplin serves as president of Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College. Prior to this, Striplin was ACM’s dean of Arts and Sciences.
He graduated from Salisbury State University with a bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy, Hudson Valley Community College with an associate’s degree in respiratory therapy, Frostburg State University with a master’s degree in education, and Frostburg State University with a doctor of education in educational leadership.
On October 28, Striplin will meet with the community at 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. After 13 years of service, ACM President Cynthia S. Bambara will retire on January 1.
