Teenage girl arrested in connection with fatal shooting of Sonic manager

SAN ANTONIO – The U.S. Marshals Service said Tuesday that a 17-year-old girl was taken into custody on suspicion of shooting and killing a Sonic Drive-In manager in San Antonio.

According to a news release, personnel of the U.S. Marshals Service, North Texas Fugitive Task Force apprehended Adiah Namir Roberson at a Dallas apartment complex.

Since the July 7 shooting at a Sonic Drive-In at 5510 Babcock Road, which killed Daniel Lacy Shrewsbury, the manager of the fast-food establishment, Roberson had been evading capture.

Threatened to attack shrewsbury

According to San Antonio police, Shrewsbury discovered that Roberson had stolen money from an employee and attempted to use it to pay for meals when he got to work. Shrewsbury then stepped outside to photograph the license plate of Roberson’s car.

Roberson’s companion, Joshua Joseph, became agitated and threatened to attack Shrewsbury, warning him that he would be shot. According to authorities, Roberson exited the vehicle and shot Shrewsbury shortly after. On August 16, Joseph was taken into custody and accused of murder.

Roberson was listed as one of the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives in September. A $5,000 cash reward was offered by Texas Crime Stoppers for information that resulted in Roberson’s apprehension. A reward of up to $5,000 was also provided by San Antonio’s Crime Stoppers.
