Cumberland: To support the family of a detective from the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office who was killed, a police union has started a fundraising campaign. On October 15, Detective Sgt. Monica Mosley was shot and died at her Bridgeton home during a home invasion.
No Arrest Has Been Made
Authorities have not stated if the senior investigator was killed in a random act or if she was targeted because of her work, and no arrests have been made in the case. PBA Local 396, which represents detectives from the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office, started the GoFundMe effort. Mosley is a grandmother of four and the mother of two girls and a son. According to her obituary, her brother and mother also survive her. At Bridgeton High School, funeral services are scheduled for this Saturday.
All About Monica Mosley
Mosley, a Bridgeton native, started working for the prosecutor’s office as a paralegal expert in 2006 and progressed to the rank of county detective in 2009. Around 10:30 p.m., police were called to her residence in Bridgeton, which is located in the 600 block of Buckshutem Road, after receiving a complaint of multiple individuals kicking in the front door. Mosley, 51, was shot and died at the spot when officers discovered her.
Information About Home Invasion
Few information regarding the home invasion have been made public by the authorities, however investigators claim that several individuals entered and left her house during the event. At first, Bridgeton authorities stated that New Jersey State Police had taken into custody a person who was receiving treatment at Cooper University Hospital in Camden for a gunshot wound. However, authorities would not provide any other details on the person in question.
