Brad Simpson – If he is given pretrial release, the San Antonio man whose wife vanished inexplicably earlier this month wants to see the couple’s kids.Joe Gonzales, the district attorney for Bexar County, promised to try his hardest to prevent it from occurring.
Gonzales told the Express-News, “We plan to vigorously oppose this motion to modify bond conditions.”Steven Gilmore, Simpson’s lawyer, moved Thursday to change pretrial terms so that, should Simpson be freed on bond, he could visit his kids.
At the moment, Simpson’s pretrial rules forbid him from seeing his kids. According to the daily, Simpson’s lawyer contends that the terms ought to be changed to allow for “no harmful or injurious contact.”
According to an arrest complaint, Simpson’s wife, Suzanne, was reported missing on October 7, the evening after the pair got into a furious quarrel in front of their $1.4 million Olmos Park property. Two days later, Simpson was taken into custody in Kendall County on allegations of wrongful restraint and family violence.
At the moment, he is being held at the Bexar County jail on bond for about $3 million.Simpson was charged this week with two more felonies: possessing a restricted firearm and tampering or falsifying with tangible evidence. Simpson is accused of requesting James Vallee Cotter, his business partner, to take his AK-47 assault rifle and conceal it in his house.
To yet, authorities have been unable to locate the missing woman despite searching Olmos Park, Boerne off I-10, and a landfill on the East Side of San Antonio.An earlier warning that Suzanne Clark Simpson may be in imminent danger was cancelled by the Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday.
