RIDGELEY— In a clash of undefeated teams, the Personal Best Patriots upset the Ridgeley Rams on Sunday, 18-8. The Cumberland Area Youth Football League championship game from the previous season, which the Rams won, was rematched.
After the first quarter, the Patriots led 6-0, and at the half, they were up 12-8. In the first quarter, Levi House opened the score with a 10-yard touchdown run. In the second quarter, he extended the lead to 12-0 with a one-yard touchdown run. The Patriots’ two kicks were missed.
Missed a kick
Christian Hyett completed a 15-yard touchdown throw to Knox Kelly to put Ridgeley up, and Brady Eirich scored the extra point. Following a scoreless third quarter, the Patriots closed the scoring when House scored a 45-yard touchdown run. The kick missed.
House completed two of three throws for forty yards and ran it for 115 yards on 14 carries, including three touchdowns. Jaiden Beck gained 65 yards on nine carries. With nine tackles apiece, Mason Davis and Roy Easterling led the Patriots’ defense. House recorded eight stops, while Logan Felton and Jayvon Emerson both got five tackles, and Beck had six tackles.
Paved the way
At the line of scrimmage, the Patriots’ offensive line—which included Isaiah Vaughn, Gabe Babyak, Jerret Zembower, Easterling, Andrew Kacharzck, and Owen Clites—paved the way.
Hyett was the most valuable offensive player for Ridgeley, while Gunner Blankenship headed the Rams’ defense. At the new Allegany field, Ridgeley (4-1) takes on Braddock (5-0) on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. against Sunday at 2 p.m., the Patriots (5-0) take against the Keyser Steelers at Greenway Avenue Stadium.
