In a five-game thriller against Mountain Ridge, Fort Hill prevails; Hampshire sweeps Allegany; Calvary is tied

CUMBERLAND: In a thrilling five-game match on Monday, No. 2 Fort Hill defeated No. 4 Mountain Ridge.After losing the first two games, 25-17 and 25-16, the Sentinels (6-1 overall, 3-1 Western Maryland Athletic Conference) won the next three, 25-17, 25-14, and 15-13, to win the match.

Mountain Ridge lost to WestMAC 4-3.Addison Furstenberg, Kamryn Rice, and Jovie Breitfeller led Fort Hill with double-doubles. Breitfeller had 21 digs, 10 kills, and three aces; Furstenberg had 17 kills and 10 blocks; and Rice had 39 assists, 12 service points, and eight digs.Tatum Bishop concluded with 16 digs, MaeLeigh Plummer scored 16 kills and nine points, while Ava McFarland completed 11 digs 3 aces.

With a triple-double that included 15 service points, 18 digs, 11 kills, and three aces, Kealana Pua’auli led Mountain Ridge. With 25 kills and 14 digs, Ryan Whitehead earned a double-double. Makayla Ziler contributed 12 service points, two aces, and three digs. Aubreigh Wilson finished with five points, three digs, two kills, and two bocks.

To increase their record to 8-0, Fort Hill won the junior varsity game 2-0.This season, the Sentinels JVs have not dropped a game.For the Sentinels, Summer Welsh finished with 13 assists and 3 digs; Caiti Willison recorded eight digs; Caniyah Plummer finished with 4 kills and 3 aces; and Corrine Spriggs finished with 5 kills and 4 aces.Addyson Haines, Jaylin Johnson, Lainey Clark, and Nadia Plackq each had two service points for mountain ridge.

Tuesday night, Fort Hill hosted No. 2 Northern (5-1 overall, 4-1 WestMAC), and on Monday at 6:30 p.m., the team will travel to Allegany (2-6 overall, 1-3 WestMACO).Mountain Ridge will play home to Bishop Walsh on Monday at 6 p.m. and Southern (3-5 overall, 0-3 WestMAC) on Tuesday.

Hampshire 3, Allegany 0 CUMBERLAND — Hampshire swept Allegany Monday winning by game scores of 25-22, 25-11 and 25-22.  Ava Strother (10 assists, 7 digs, and an ace), Mackenzie Monahan (10 digs and 6 kills), and Chloe DeBlock (6 kills, 4 digs, and an ace) led Allegany.Hampshire’s statistics were not given.The JV match was won 2-1 by Hampshire. For Allegany, Rylee Shaffer finished with eight digs, five aces, and two kills.

“They are a very big and physical team.” The Eagles defeated Cumberland Valley 25-15, 25-14, and 25-10.Ganoe recorded another double-double with 19 kills and 10 digs. Robinette had nine kills, seven digs, and fifteen assists.With three aces and four digs, Maust contributed ten assists.
