Patuxent, Good Counsel rise up in state poll; Fort Hill remains at No. 16

PENNSYLVANIA: On the final play of the match, No. 24 Patuxent overcame No. 18 Huntingtown 26–20 thanks to a touchdown throw. Other than that outcome, all 25 of the teams ranked in the previous week’s Top 25 won, so this week’s rankings barely changed.

Following a convincing 51-0 victory against Gilman, Archbishop Spalding continues to hold the top spot, while St. Frances Academy maintains its position at No. 2 following a victory over St. Thomas More (Conn.).

A closer margin

After a commanding 48-10 victory over Stone Bridge (Va.), Good Counsel moved up to No. 5, surpassing Quince Orchard, in the only noteworthy move in the Top 10. A week prior, Quince Orchard had defeated Stone Bridge with a closer 0-10 margin.

After Friday’s 28-14 victory over previously unbeaten Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, Fort Hill was still at 16. Due to their victory, Patuxent moved up to No. 20, while Huntingtown fell to No. 23.

This week’s voters were mostly in agreement, as only 27 clubs received votes, resulting in a mostly unchanged Top 25. Since there aren’t any ranked teams playing each other this week, the 20 ranked teams who are participating are all favorites to win.
