A Man From Mineral County Died In Route 28 Motorcycle Accident

As per the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office, a Fort Ashby man was murdered Saturday night when he lost control of his motorbike on state Route 28 and was ejected from the vehicle after colliding with a railing.

After being transported to UPMC Western Maryland after the 8:45 p.m. collision that occurred close to Siple’s Curve in Fort Ashby, Franklin William Novak, aged 64, was declared deceased.

He Crossed The Roadway And Collided

According to police, a preliminary investigation revealed that Novak was riding a Harley-Davidson Road Glide 3 motorbike south on Route 28 when he crossed the roadway and collided with a railing after failing to handle a right-hand turn.

Deputy T. Evix is still looking into the collision. The 911 emergency center of Mineral County alerted West Virginia State Police, and many volunteer fire and rescue units arrived on the scene.
