OAKLAND: On Wednesday, Jovie Breitfeller’s double-double helped No. 3 Fort Hill defeat Southern. The scores were 25-16, 25-21, and 25-22 for the Sentinels (8-2, 5-2 Western Maryland Athletic Conference). For Fort Hill, Breitfeller ended with a total of 18 digs, 12 points, and seven aces.
Addison Furstenberg contributed 10 kills and 4 blocks, while Tatum Bishop finished with 18 digs and 8 kills. Jaiden Fradiska had eleven digs, while Talia Young had eight kills and eight points. The Sentinels advanced to 10-0 by winning the JV match 2-0 as well.
Adalyn Rice recorded four kills, Summer Welsh contributed eleven assists and seven aces, while Caiti Wilson contributed eight digs and two aces.
Fort Hill scored 15 aces in total. The statistics for Southern (4-7, 0-5 WestMAC) were not disclosed. Today the Sentinels will play Broadfording. The Rams play Allegany (3-8, 1-4 WestMAC) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Hancock 1, Allegany 3
Allegany defeated Hancock in four sets on Wednesday, snapping a four-game losing streak. It was 25-13, 23-25, 25-16, and 25-11 for the Campers (3-8). With three digs, an ace, and 19 assists, Ava Strother finished.

The JV match was won by the Campers in three sets; they fell short in the opening set, 25-12, but prevailed in the next two, 25-15 and 15-5.
Savannah Walton ended with five aces, three assists, two digs, and a kill, while Julia Imes finished with seven assists, seven kills, and three digs. On Wednesday at 7 p.m., Allegany travels to Southern (4-6, 0-4 WestMAC).
Berlin 3, Mtn. Ridge 0
Mountain Ridge’s Ryan Whitehead and Kealana Pua’auli recorded double-doubles on Wednesday, but the Miners lost to Berlin handily. The game scores for the Miners (7-4) were 25-16, 25-21, and 26-24. Berlin gained victory and advanced to 17-2. Pua’auli recorded 13 kills, 11 digs, 6 points, and an ace, while Whitehead recorded 17 kills, 13 digs, 4 points, and 2 aces.
Aubreigh Wilson contributed 13 assists, 6 points, and an ace in addition to Makenna Conway’s 17 assists. The JV match was won by Berlin 25-19 and 25-15. Kate Fogle led the Miners’ JVs (4-5) in scoring with nine points, followed by CJ Gray with six. Northern visits Mountain Ridge on Thursday, October 17.
