CUMBERLAND — No. 3 Allegany defeated No. 5 Fort Hill 5-2 on Thursday to secure the City title on Homecoming thanks to three goals from Avery Miller. Miller scored two of the goals to gave Allegany (5-2-1 overall, 3-1-1 Western Maryland Athletic Conference, 3-0 City League) a 3-0 halftime lead.
Myia Miller and Ella Shade scored the opening goal in the fourth minute, and a little over a minute later, Miller assisted an Avery Miller goal. With 12 seconds left in the half, Avery Miller scored on her own.
With 35:03 remaining in the game, Miller completed her hat trick with help from Shade. With 23:10 remaining, Miller and Desirae Hilton combined for a score that put the game at 5-0.
With 14:34 left, Karter Marshall scored on a free kick for Fort Hill to break the scoreless tie. Ten minutes later, Kylee Rice of the Sentinels, assisted by Sadie Hamilton, scored. Allegany took all six of the game’s corner kicks and outshot Fort Hill 17–6. Keyser (6-4-2) hosts Allegany on Saturday at 5 p.m. Monday at 7 p.m., Fort Hill is at Mountain Ridge (7-1-1).
