Authorities Identify a 17-year-old Who Perished in Bodega Bay on Saturday

BODEGA BAY, California: The identity of the boater murdered last weekend when a boat capsized in the North Bay has been revealed. According to a Facebook post from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department, the victim is Johnny Phommathep II. He is a 17-year-old from Corning, Tehama County.

Around 10 p.m. on Saturday, officials received a call about a boat that had failed to return from crabbing, with six persons on board. After halting their search Sunday evening, authorities began looking for four more missing boaters on Monday.

However, according to the sheriff’s office, it has switched to a recovery mission. Using a cooler, the sixth boater, an 11-year-old child, managed to survive.

Further Details

The 11-year-old self-rescued himself, according to Sonoma County Sheriff spokesman Misti Wood. He managed to reach the coast and spent the night there.

The child was discovered by onlookers on Highway 1 after walking up in the morning, and he lived. That he made it is quite amazing. Around 7 a.m. on Monday, another boat overturned in Bodega Bay.

Although no more information has been made public, Sonoma County Sheriff’s officials said that one person had died and another had been rescued.
