INDIANA- On October 15, 2024, Richard Dorsey Billmyre, 78, of Noblesville, Indiana, who had formerly lived in Ridgeley, West Virginia, passed away quietly at home. Dorsey and Mary (Crampton) Billmyre welcomed Richard (Dick) into the world on July 16, 1946, in Cumberland, Maryland.
Dick attended Potomac State College in Keyser, West Virginia, after graduating from Ridgeley High School in 1964. He then went on to West Virginia University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1969.
After founding Billmyre & Associates in 1975, Dick went on to form American Multitech, where he received three patents for the development of liquid acid recovery devices. systems that were later deployed across Mexico and the United States. Dick retired in 2001 after a prosperous thirty-year career in engineering and entrepreneurship.
He will be remembered
He and Janet became snowbirds, spending the winters in Spring Hill, Florida. He developed into a passionate golfer during this time, establishing a great number of friends on courses in Florida and Indiana. He also liked to travel, and he was especially interested in cruise. By 2019, Dick had travelled to every continent with Janet at his side.
Dick was a veteran as too, having spent 1971–1977 in the U.S. Army Reserves. He has four grandchildren: Evie and Ethan Smith, Monty and Gus Mikuzis, and his wife, Janet of Noblesville, Indiana; his daughters, Tisha (Kyle) Smith of Carmel, Indiana, and Ambra (Chuck) Mikuzis of Chesterton, Indiana.
Dick’s parents and two brothers, George and Jack Billmyre, passed away before him. Rituals for cremation have been given. On Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, the funeral service will start at 11 a.m. at Noblesville First United Methodist Church, 2051 Monument St., Noblesville, Ind., with a visitation starting at 10 a.m. The Cremation Society of Indiana, located at 4115 Shelby Street, has been tasked with making the arrangements.
