The victim of Saturday’s boat tragedy near north Key Largo, which left two people injured, has been named by authorities.
Eytan M. Genoune’s body was recovered from the ocean, according to a statement released by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission on Sunday.
According to FWC officials, the Boynton Beach resident, 21, was sailing south on a 34′ Nor-Tech with two other passengers when a sharp bend threw the three of them out.
About the Mishap
The mishap was reported to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue around 10:26 a.m. on Saturday, close to Pumpkin Key, off the Card Sound Bridge. As a result, dive teams and air rescues were called to the scene.
According to FWC, Genoune was discovered dead in the sea, while two of the unnamed occupants were transported to a hospital.
While the other two were transported to a trauma facility, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue also told NBC6 that divers had discovered his body. None knows about their conditions.
More information regarding the accident’s circumstances is being sought by NBC6. Miami-Dade Police, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, and FWC returned to the water at Pumpkin Key late Saturday night and retrieved a large object from the water.
It’s unclear if the collision on Saturday has anything to do with it.
Following another event Thursday in which a 28-year-old woman was killed after being catapulted from a boat during a powerboat racing near Key West, there was another fatal accident on the Florida Keys sea.
