Police say a deadly shooting in San Jose last month was gang-related, and two young adults and a minor were taken into custody as suspects.
According to San Jose police, the incident took place in downtown San Jose on October 27 in the 100 block of South 2nd Street. When officers got there, they discovered a man who had been shot at least once.
They tried to save his life until help could arrive, but the man passed away right away. According to police, an assault-style rifle was found by officers near the shooting site.
Addam Nieto, 19, of Milpitas, Brian Medina, 18, and a 17-year-old San Jose resident were named as the main suspects by homicide police during the investigation.
According to the police, all three accused had ties to gangs in San Jose.
Detectives and SWAT teams apprehended the young suspect in San Jose on November 15 after discovering an automatic gun hidden in his waistband.
He was charged with murder and admitted to the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall.Additionally, it was found that Medina was already facing unrelated charges at Juvenile Hall.
Medina was arrested
Medina was arrested by detectives and charged with murder at the Santa Clara County Jail. Nieto was also detained in Stanislaus County on separate charges, detectives discovered.
Nieto was handed a murder arrest warrant, according to the police, pending his extradition back to Santa Clara County.
The circumstances surrounding the incident were still being investigated, and police did not reveal a motive for the homicide.
The identify of the victim was not revealed. According to the police, it was the 26th homicide in San Jose in 2024.
