ROMNEY- Hampshire and Mountn. Ridge play to a scoreless tie; Northern wins ROMNEY—On Thursday, No. 1 Mountain Ridge and No. 4 Hampshire drew without scoring. In the shutout, Mountain Ridge had a 12-7 shot advantage and a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Taylor Lamberson, the Miners’ goalkeeper, had four saves. In the junior varsity match, Mountain Ridge prevailed 2-0. On Monday night at 7 p.m., the Miners take on Fort Hill. Hampshire (7-4-2) plays at noon on Saturday against East Fairmont.
Berkeley Springs 0 No. 1 Northern
On Thursday, Emma Hostetler scored a triple trick as No. 1 Northern easily defeated Berkeley Springs. The Huskies (8-1-1) combined for 16 points without giving up a shot. In the second half, Hostetler scored twice.
About ten minutes before halftime, Kaylee Bowser assisted her on her first goal. In less than two minutes, Hostetler scored twice thanks to assists from Ainsley McHenry-Sorber. Isabella Yoder scored once in each half on two direct kicks.
Late in the first half, McHenry-Sorber scored thanks to a Hostetler assist. With thirty-six seconds left, Alex Fike scored on a feed from Abby Nelson.
In corner kicks, the Huskies had a 13-0 edge. The goaltender from Berkeley Springs (name withheld) made 12 saves. On Friday, Northern defeated Catoctin 10-0, and on Monday at 6:30 p.m., they will play Southern.
