Late Thursday night in Phoenix, an officer-involved gunshot resulted in the death of a suspect. On November 28, just before 10:30 p.m., a brawl broke out inside a convenience store at 83rd Avenue and McDowell Road, which led to the shooting.
According to Phoenix Police, officers were called to the scene after receiving information that a man had threatened someone while brandishing a gun.
Although the culprit left the scene, a witness was able to give authorities a description of the suspect’s car. When officers attempted to pull over the suspect’s automobile after spotting it close by, the driver refused to stop and fled.
According to the police, the suspect exited the automobile and fled into a backyard after the vehicle was traced near 79th Avenue and Mitchell Drive.
According to Sgt. Rob Scherer, “Officers arrived in this area and began to establish containment on the home,” “While doing this, they heard what they believed to be a gunshot coming from the backyard of the residence.”
A man who fit the suspect’s description was later noticed by an officer. “This man was seen with a handgun in his hand and raised it up,” Scherer stated.
“This is when the officer involved shooting occurred.” At the scene, the suspect was declared deceased. No one knew who he was.
