Santa Cruz County Election Office: Measure R is Absent from the ballot in the Central Fire Districts

Santa Cruz: The Central Fire District of Santa Cruz County Measure R was absent from the ballots for the forthcoming November election in about 124 addresses. This was according to the Santa Cruz County Elections Office.

Officials claim that in response, voters received a replacement ballot and a letter allowing them to cast ballots in all of the competitions to which they are legally entitled.

As per the elections office, this occurred because the dwellings were not assigned to the Fire District but only to the Division.

In the $221 million bond proposal, proposal R, the goal is to “protect local medical emergency and fire protection services; and prepare wildfires, floods, and earthquakes by upgrading and repairing aging lifesaving equipment and stations.”

The Procedure In Place

For voters affected by this problem, the Elections Department claims to have a procedure in place. These voters’ ballot envelopes have been thrown out.

Moreover, after being returned, the envelope is sent to a team for evaluation. The group ascertains whether the envelope contains the original or replacement ballot. The substitute ballot will be ready for counting.

Furthermore, to find out the status of the replacement ballot, the elections team will get in touch with the voter if the envelope contains the original ballot. If the voter does not contact the team and returns only the original ballot and never the replacement, the original ballot will be counted.

The October 12 replacement is being requested from voters who have not yet turned in their ballots. Voters can ask any queries they may have at the Santa Cruz County Elections Office.
