TEXAS: The oldest person still alive in the US, Elizabeth Francis, passed away. Her age was 115. Ethel Harrison, who is her 69-year-old granddaughter & caregiver, told ABC News on Wednesday that Francis passed away quietly on Tuesday night in the company of her loved ones.
Harrison told ABC News that Francis was “an individual who loved people.” “She had a deep affection for the Lord. “She had a very strong faith,” Harrison remarked.
Francis Was The Third-Oldest Person In The World
“She was usually cheerful and asked how you were doing. Are you doing alright? That was simply her disposition. Additionally, she would frequently advise treating others as you would like to be treated. Regarding her grandma, she continued, “And that was her motto.”
As per LongeviQuest, a global record regarding the world’s oldest people, Francis was the third-oldest person in the world and the oldest living person in the United States at the time of her death.
According to a database press release, she spent the majority of her whole life in Houston, Texas. A “supercentenarian,” or someone who is 110 years of age or more, is another name for Francis, who was born in the year 1909 and celebrated his 115th birthday earlier this year.
Francis stated in a 2023 interview with the ABC Houston KTRK-TV to commemorate her 114th birthday that she still felt young at heart despite her advanced age. “I’m rather young. “Look at me,” she continued, “I look like a little baby chicken.
She Produced Her Own Vegetables
She revealed that the reason she had a long life was because she didn’t smoke or drink, yet she ate “everything.” Harrison told KTRK that her grandma never ate fast food; instead, she always produced her own veggies & ate at home.
“Whenever you visited her house, it doesn’t matter what day of the week she was involved in cooking,” Harrison replied. That, in my opinion, also played a significant role. The way she cared for her body and other things.”
At the time, Dorothy Williams, Francis’ 96-year-old daughter, told KTRK that her mother’s 114th birthday was “hard to believe” before describing it as “a blessing.” “Because she has proved to be a wonderful mother & grandmother to each one of us,” Williams explained. “She has always been our backbone.”
