Tractor Trailer Fire On Pennsylvania Turnpike In Cumberland County Led To Traffic Delays

Cumberland: A portion of the Pennsylvania Turnpike was temporarily closed due to a tractor-trailer fire in Cumberland County. The New Kingstown Fire Company reports that the vehicle fire started at approximately 2:00 p.m. and is located close to mile marker 234 on the westbound side of the turnpike.

While emergency personnel fought the fire, all lanes were blocked. Around 4 p.m., PA Turnpike Alerts declared that Gettysburg Pike #236 and Carlisle Exit #226 were the new exits for I-76 West. After the scenario at mile 234.5, the right lane will stay blocked.

Drivers have been warned to keep an eye out for staff working in the right lane and on the shoulder of the road, as well as slower traffic. The New Kingstown Fire Company reports that the fire is contained. Although there have been several explosions near the Auto Auction on S. York Street, the public is not in immediate danger. No injuries were recorded.
